Small Pre-Party

My son asked more than 20 times after school how soon he could open his birthday presents. We finally gave in and decided to let him open them after dinner and cake last night. We will be going to US Play tonight so I will be able to post pics from that later tomorrow. He thoroughly enjoyed his presents. He jumped up a couple of times while opening some. I hope to keep these memories for a long time. It was a bummer that my husband was not able to be there but he is busy checking out of housing and the command. Here are some pics.

At a dilemma

My youngest son turns 8 tomorrow and he has a field trip to the fire station. Since he will not be at the school for lunch I am bringing the cupcakes today instead. My dilemma is what I should do for his birthday. I would love to take him to D & B but I know it will run in the hundreds. He loves to bowl so I thought about taking him bowling. Since we just moved to the Georgia area he doesn't have any friends to invite yet so it will have to be just me, sissy and the grandparents. Guess I will have to think more about other places for a nice party. Of course we won't be able to have the party until Saturday night or Sunday. Oh well, I usually figure things out but who knows, whatever the case I will post pictures once we have the party.

Wondering If I Took On More Than I Can Chew!!!

The kids started school yesterday. I swear I was a mess. It was like dropping them off for the the first time ever. I cried on the way out of both schools and my youngest is in 2nd grad and my daughter is in 6th so it's not like it's my first time either. We just moved and they are going to new schools so I feel the anxiety they feel too. I didn't even get pictures of them either like I normally do. Since October things have just been out of the sorts. My husband is still back in Tennessee handling the pack out while I am out here in Georgia and have been since October. He brought the kids to me at Christmas so I did get to see him then but it wasn't a great visit like I wish it would have been.

We live with my parents temporarily while we look for a place which we think will be in the next 6 months or so because the schools are great where they live and there are not many houses for rent in their area right now. I have not ever been away from my husband longer than just an 8 or 9 month deployment so the next 4 years are going to be different that is for sure. I hope to be able to see him every few months but we all know how that works. I hope the time flies by like it has since October and then the 4yrs will be over before you know it. I did find out today his tenative deployment date but we know how the Navy is. Hurry up and wait or they say a date and it could change as late as 24 hours beforehand. 

A Thursday from Hell

In my perspective I had a Thursday from hell!!!!

It started early when I go to call my daughters orthodontist to make my forever monthly payment on her braces and find a referral to another orthodontist in the Atlanta area. They told me that all there computers were down and I was not going to be able to do either of those tasks until Monday.

I then made a phone call to my old employer in Tennessee to find out if receiving my W2 before the first week in February would at all be possible and again of course I get told NO.

I then proceed to find out that not just one hard drive but possibly two hard drives on my $3000 desktop (that is only two years old) have crashed and to top it all off.....Noone seems to know how it happened.

Talk about when it rains it pours. I didn't want to be at work or even in existence at that point. I swore I was going to go home and have a drink but by the time I got home from work at 9pm I was too exhausted, so I just spent some time with the kiddos, ate dinner, read part of a good book I originally thought sucked but now doesn't and then headed to bed completely forgetting about the drink I so yearned for earlier that day.

However, tonight is New Year's Eve and I will make sure that I have at least one drink, maybe some Rum and Egg Nog or Rum and Diet Coke.
